UF Art Education

FAQ

Will my diploma and transcript say UF Online or the University of Florida?

From day one, you are a University of Florida Gator. Your diploma and transcript will be indistinguishable from the diploma and transcript that students who complete all courses residentially receive.

I’ve never taken online courses or earned a degree online. What kind of support is available for someone like me?

UF provides an array of technology support resources and services to both online and on-campus learners. We use the technologically advanced and easy-to-use Canvas learning platform for online study. It provides online MAAE students with an online orientation module to familiarize them with the program, university policies and procedures, and the learning management system itself. You may also want to check out the UF Computer Help Desk website for more information about support services.

What are the computing requirements for the program?

Visit our Program Technical Requirements page.

Does this program offer a certification track?

The online MAAE program does not at this time offer certification. Though earning the degree may fulfill some state certification requirements, individuals seeking certification should thoroughly research their state’s teaching certification requirements.

Are there any professional development opportunities available to students in the online Master of Arts in Art Education program?

All University of Florida students, including those enrolled in online programs, gain access to Gator CareerLink, which is a platform where they can search through job postings, build resumes and connect with our career services.

In addition, online Master of Arts in Art Education students are eligible to apply for the UF graduate research award, which provides financial support for a variety of professional development and academic research activities.

I live near Gainesville. Can online students take on-campus classes?

We strongly encourage all students to attend our Residential Summer Studios, and local students may opt for other classes on campus during the fall, spring, or summer semesters, based on availability and eligibility. Please note that tuition for courses offered outside the online MAAE program may be higher.

Do students ever need to come to campus?

Students can complete the program without ever coming to campus but, as mentioned above, we strongly encourage students to attend our Residential Summer Studios. Students who successfully complete the program may also choose to attend the graduation ceremony.

When I was an undergraduate student, I had to submit proof of immunization. Is that required of online students?

All students in this program are required to submit proof of immunization before they may register for classes. Visit the Health Compliance Office website for more information about requirements and recommendations.

Do you accept transfer credits?

Students may be eligible to transfer up to 9 semester credits of graduate-level work from an institution approved by the UF Graduate School. Petitions for transfer of credit for a master’s degree must be made during the student’s first term of enrollment.

What kind of accessibility support is available?

The University of Florida’s Disability Resource Center is here to ensure that every student has learning accommodations to meet their individual needs. Learn more and see how you can access support by visiting our accommodations page.
